Are you a cool fisherman?

How do you keep your cool in the heat? Missississip's known all over the US for its warm summers. Warm? There down right hot!

There are several ways to beat the heat and a lot depends on where you're fishing. Wading and fishing is a way to lower your body temp. Of course you want to drink a lot of water while your out.

Wear light colored long sleeves to keep the sun from burning your skin. You might think that a tee and shorts is the way to go but just a little breeze from the baked air will dry your skin leaving you hotter than ever.

I've worked and fished outside for years and I've found that wearing a damp head band works the best. I use this one I got from Amazon.com.

SweatVac Headband

It's about $12.00 bucks delievered to your door. I've got two and I keep them in my ice chest. I swap them out when one gets hot and dry.

Then I crown the head band with a wide brim straw hat...the hat makes a good place to hang your bait!

Okhissa Lake Now Open for Pleasure Boating

Before Last Saturday, the 24th of May, if you lived in central Franklin County and wanted to spend time on a lake knee boarding, tubing or skiing, your first stop would have been the fueling station. Now that Okhissa Lake, the Homochitto National Forest Lake known for fishing, has opened the lake to pleasure boating getting cool and having fun is much easier.

"In the past we had to drive a good hour to get to a decent lake," said Shane Clanton of Meadville. Shane and his son Stone were among the first boaters to enjoy the clear waters at Okhissa on opening day.

Homochitto Forest Rangers announced the ski area opening date last week. In an effort to promote safety the rangers ask that skiers stay inside the buoyed ski zone and to maintain a safe speed while traveling a counter clockwise direction around the ski area.
